Serious Action at Horseshoe Casino Tunica
The Horseshoe Casino Tunica in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, has developed a reputation as the haunt of serious gamblers, particularly fans of casino table games. It is also known for tweaks in the rules of certain games to give the players better odds, and a generous comp policy.
It’s not surprising that the Horseshoe Casino Tunica attracts players who take their gaming seriously. Tunica Resorts, also known as Robinsonville, is located on the Mississippi River in the far north of the state of Mississippi, and its residents have long had a fondness for casino gambling.
The 2010 census revealed nine casinos in the area, and at one point Robinsonvilles’ gambling revenues were the third largest in the country, behind Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Competition from Indian casinos has since knocked it out of third place, but a substantial proportion of the region’s revenue is still generated by casino taxes.

A Brief History of Horseshoe Casino Tunica
Horseshoe Casino Tunica was originally opened in 1995 by casino developer Jack Binion, whose father Benny was a legendary figure in the building of Las Vegas. The casino’s name is a tribute to Benny’s famous Binion’s Horseshoe, a casino that graced the Las Vegas Strip from 1951 to 2009.
Since it opened in 1995, Horseshoe Casino Tunica has undergone several renovations and expansions. In 2004, it was sold to Harrah’s Entertainment, and the new owners succeeded in making it one of the venues on the World Series of Poker circuit. Harrah’s Entertainment was renamed Caesar’s Entertainment in 2010.
